Kia Ora, Namaste, Bula. My name is Usha. I am from Fiji and live in New Lynn with my husband and a son. I hold a Degree of Bachelor of Teaching (early childhood education) from Unitec and am provisionally registered. I have over six years working experience with children from 0- 5 years old. I have a holistic approach and recognise the importance of all aspects of a child’s life in their welfare, development and self esteem. I value parent partnerships and developing a trusting relationship with the children in my care. I believe that ‘play is child’s work’ and a medium through which children learn life skills. My goal as a teacher is to provide children with a rich environment where they feel safe to explore, initiate learning, and feel free to express themselves. My pedagogy is based upon socio-cultural theory. My interests include visiting places and gardening.
